Have You Been Memrized? A Simple Gesture That Sparks Kindness

Updated: Feb 18

The Unexpected Encounter That Started It All

It was the end of another busy workday. I was just about to leave the office when I noticed my colleague tidying up her desk, preparing to head home. She casually mentioned that she had a few things to do before setting off, and as we chatted, something caught my eye—her red diary.

Now, this wasn’t just any diary. It was the same as everyone else’s in the team. But unlike mine, which had a ‘Memriz’ sticker on the front to set it apart, hers looked untouched.

That’s when it hit me.

I looked at her and asked, “You haven’t been Memrized, have you?”

She gave me the most confused, blank stare. It was priceless.

What Does It Mean to Be Memrized?

Seeing her confusion, another colleague—who had already been Memrized—jumped in to help explain. We shared that Memriz is all about memorializing special encounters with people through a simple but powerful token: the lapel pin.

She admitted that she had noticed people around the office wearing the pin and had wondered what it was all about. That simple curiosity opened the door to an incredible conversation—one about kindness, meaningful interactions, and how the smallest gestures can create lasting impact.

The Power of Small Acts of Kindness

We talked about how memorable encounters can happen with anyone:

A fellow shopper at the supermarket

Someone standing behind you in a queue

A stranger on the bus

A client, colleague, or even your manager

As healthcare professionals, we are constantly reminded of how kindness transcends age, gender, and culture. It’s a universal language, a force that unites us in the most unexpected ways.

By the end of our chat, my colleague was completely on board. She smiled and said, “Oh yes, I want one as well.”

And just like that, she was Memrized!

She received her lapel pin and a sticker for her diary, with a little warning: Keep them safe, because if you lose them, you’ll be Memrized all over again!

That moment was profound for me. I never imagined that something as simple as Memriz could be such a unifying force among my colleagues. It’s proof that small acts of kindness can ripple outwards, bringing people together in the most unexpected ways.

At Memriz, we believe that life is a continuous journey of experiences that depict kindness and compassion demonstrating how we shape the way we interact with one another.
