“Nothing is more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others.” – Mandy Hale
Summer is here. The school bells have gone silent, the children are home, and if you’re lucky, your morning commute is a little lighter. But for me and my team, the real buzz is happening inside the office where we’re gearing up for our Summer Bonanza, a season of celebration, connection, and recognition.
Honouring Uniqueness: Our Internal Awards
As part of the festivities, we’ve launched a set of team awards to spotlight the people who make our working days brighter. We’re inviting colleagues to nominate each other for:
Peer Appreciation – those who always have your back
Innovation – creative problem-solvers who bring new ideas to life
Emerging Leader – rising stars who step up with quiet confidence
Quiet Anchor – the calm, steady presence who holds it all together
And yes, just to shake things up, I introduced a cheeky new category: Most Vibrant Hair Colour, which, in full transparency, I awarded to myself. I mean, who else is rocking multiple shades of purple like it’s a personality trait? I can’t wait to see the final results. No one knows who voted for whom yet, and I suspect it’ll spark a lively, laughter-filled discussion on the day of the reveal.
Why Celebrating Others Matters
One of the things I’m most excited to do, beyond the awards, is to tell each nominee exactly why their contribution matters. Because here’s the truth: every team member brings a unique kind of brilliance.
We’re like a garden of diverse flowers: roses, hyacinths, lilies, each offering a distinct fragrance. Or like fruits: apples, oranges, coconuts, pineapples, vibrant in our differences, nourishing in our own way.
And when we pause to recognise that beauty in others, something powerful happens. Morale rises. Trust deepens. Culture thrives.
The Power of Kindness: Celebrating People, Purpose, and Purple Hair
This season of celebration reminded me of a quote I love from Steve Brunkhorst:
“Perform random acts of kindness for someone, a smile, a compliment, or a favour just for fun. These will multiply and spread quickly.” - Lola Adeosun
Kindness is contagious. Whether it’s a warm comment in a team meeting, a surprise coffee for a stressed colleague, or an intentional shoutout during a check-in, small acts ripple out in big ways.
In fact, at Memriz.online, we believe in capturing those meaningful moments. Why not take a few minutes this week to write about a time you made someone smile, or someone made your day better? Whether random or intentional, your story could spark something powerful in someone else.
So here’s a gentle challenge: share a moment of kindness on Memriz.online. It could be a few words, a memory, a photo, or a note of gratitude. You never know who it might encourage.
And if you’re still wondering, yes, the purple hair is here to stay. Just another reminder that joy, colour, and celebration belong not just in parties but in the everyday moments of our work and life. The Power of Kindness.
Have a lovely week, and don’t forget, your kindness could be the highlight of someone else’s day.
