The Journey of Memriz: Building a Community of Kindness

It’s hard to believe, but it has already been a year since the inception of Memriz. Time has flown, and with it, our community of kindness has blossomed. Together, we’ve shared stories, encouraged one another, and inspired countless acts of kindness in everyday places, at the bus stop, in the supermarket, at work, in church, in the parking lot, and beyond.

What started as a fleeting idea has grown into something greater than I could have imagined. And today, I want to share that story with you.

The Story Behind Memriz

The seeds of Memriz were planted during my university days. Like many students, I lived on a tight budget. Whenever I attended a birthday party or celebration, I didn’t want to arrive empty-handed. Instead of buying gifts, I created small tokens of appreciation: hand-drawn pictures, each with heartfelt messages and decorated with colourful gel pens.

They were simple, but they carried meaning. And in giving them, I learned something powerful: small gestures, when offered sincerely, create memories that last.

That was the origin of what we now know as Memriz. From those little drawings, the idea has grown into a platform where kindness can be shared, celebrated, and remembered.

This year, I am thrilled to finally unveil this personal story and celebrate how far we’ve come. We’ll gather as a community online via Zoom on Sunday, August 31st, 2025, at 5 pm to mark this milestone together.

That truth has guided Memriz from the beginning. Every smile shared, every story told, every act of kindness remembered adds to the strength of our community.

These past months have been filled with unforgettable moments, Memriz moments. From being the rainbow in someone’s cloud, to breaking the ice with a smile, to encouraging one another to take the first step in kindness, we’ve built something truly special together.
